books into furniture --
lamps, umbrella stands,
picture frames, whatever.
The project was a
classroom and library
collaboration at MIT.

Writers: Emily Dickinson

The Dickinson Electronic Archives is "devoted to the study of Emily Dickinson, her writing practices, writings directly influencing her work, and critical and creative writings generated by her work." Online since 1997, the site contains a nice selection of her correspondence with friends and colleagues and such critical articles as "Emily Dickinson Writing a Poem" and "The Letter-Poem, A Dickinson Genre." the "Titanic Operas" section has commentaries by such writers as Joyce Carol Oates and Gwendolyn Brooks to the works of the Belle of Amherst. <http://www.emilydickinson.org/>

Jazz: A Tribute to Fats Waller (NPR)

"Fresh Air from WHYY, December 31, 2004 ยท We rebroadcast a tribute to the great vocalist and composer Thomas "Fats" Waller from May 19, 2004. Guitarist and singer Marty Grosz and cornet player Randy Reinhart join us for a special in-studio performance in honor of Waller's 100th birthday.
